Why adopt a pet?

Every year, hundreds of thousands of dogs and cats are needlessly euthanized because of neglect, abandonment, or overpopulation. Please consider adopting a pet from the Timmins Humane Society. All pets are vaccinated and spayed or neutered as a condition of permanent placement.

The Adoption Process

If you are interested in adopting a pet, simply stop by our shelter at 620 Mahoney Road.  We will introduce you to the pet you are interested in and/or help you look for the type of pet that is best suited to your family.  You will be asked to complete an adoption application.  If the pet is available for immediate adoption, there is a 24 hour processing period to allow the adoption committee to review your application.  If the application is approved you will be contacted shortly afterwards to complete the adoption process.  If the pet is not available for immediate adoption (i.e. not spayed or neutered) we will accept applications for the pet and advise the approved applicant when the pet becomes available.  Please note that adoptions are not based on a first come first serve basis .  Our goal is to match the pet to the family that best suits their needs, so as to avoid any possible adoption breakdowns.  We are committed to finding our animals their "forever family".  If you have any questions regarding our adoption process, please feel free to contact us.
