Hello TDHS.  I’m emailing you today, because we’d like to submit a success story for our adoption of Knox!  Our story is unbolded below:

We began fostering Knox (Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler mix) near the end of September and officially welcomed him into our home mid-October.  Needless to say, he fit right in from the start.  He had his own little routine – ear scratches for five minutes before bed, then sleep at the foot of the bed – and eventually, he adapted to ours and made himself right at home. (Now, he comes upstairs until we’re settled and then goes back downstairs to sleep on the couch.)  We had our difficulties at the beginning with him taking off if he got off the leash and leash walking in general, but he’s gotten over that fairly quickly.

Knox loves going to dog park, running around with other friends and family dogs, it’s no wonder we don’t hear a peep from him after the dog park!  It’s the same at the cottage.  He’s got his freedom to run around as he pleases – always staying within ear shot of Eric – and at night, he’s out like a light!  Eric’s father has mentioned that he wants Knox for himself!  He’s going to make a great hunting partner for the two of them next year.

We’re also very impressed at his temperament.  He’s such a friendly dog, and he’s great with other small dogs, cats and even children.  So, if we ever decide to get another dog or have young family members over, we know he’ll be great with them!

I’m so glad he’s made us part of his pack, as he’s become a huge part in our little family.  We’re excited to share our first Christmas with Knox (even got his picture taken with Santa), and would recommend to anyone looking to adopt to go through the Timmins & District Humane Society.  They were extremely helpful when Knox got a little sick after being spoiled at a friends cottage, and he was better before we knew it!

Thanks, TDHS!  We couldn’t be happier with our newest family member!

I’ve attached a picture of Knox and Santa!  I thought it’d be a great one right before the holidays!

 Happy Holidays!
